A field like real estate never stops moving. It’s not just about sustainable materials – every new project needs fresh designs. If you want to be competitive in this field, you need to keep up with the latest advancements – and you designs need to show that. - Employer speaks

Trends

The latest real estate and interior decoration developments are presented at annual construction fairs and events. In recent years, the main focus has been on sustainability and versatility. Re-using a material in a creative way for a different purpose is considered a sign of imagination and originality. More and more people are also interested in multi-purpose furniture and using it to decorate small spaces and houses. This is most noticeable among young people, who are widely looking for a combination of compact and comfortable furnishings for their temporary home.

Interior styling, 100% of the time

A smart interior designer accounts for sustainability. Reusing materials, coming up with alternative ways to use items – that’s the future. Reusable resources are slowly but surely running out – which means any creative solution that lets us conserve the planet’s resources is more than welcome.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve dreamt of being an interior designer. Of course, life happened - and I ended up at a different job. A couple years ago, I decided enough is enough, went and got certified at one of your home courses. It was the best decision I’ve ever made. - Ex-student speaking

We’re getting a lot of middle-aged students realizing it’s time to pursue their passion. They come from all over, different fields and backgrounds. This leads to an unexpected side effect – our Interior Design program is full of bright minds from all walks of life, always ready to provide a different point of view. That’s great for creativity and cultivating unique new insights. The one thing they all have in common is their passion for design – and that’s obvious by the atmosphere of focus and commitment we’re observing.

Nice to know

  • Date to be different. A lamp that’s also a speaker, jeans reused as a pillowcases – if you have an unconventional idea, give yourself credit. Use it. It just might be the next bit thing.
  • Inspiration is everywhere. Design articles and blogs can be great sources of new ideas – but so can everyday life. Look around. Inspiration can strike when you least expect it.
  • Being self-employed means you can pick your clients and work with them personally – but that doesn’t mean you  can’t work with big companies. You can always become a part-time consultant with a big agency and strengthen your portfolio.
